What to do on July 4th?
Harbour Town Parade
Hosted in Sea Pines Resort at Harbour Town Marina is the annual July 4th parade. Visitors are encouraged to show off their red, white and blue and are welcome to decorate their bikes, wagons, dogs, kids and themselves. If you would like to walk in the parade plan to meet at 8:30 in the parking lot near the Harbour Town Lighthouse to register and pick up decorating supplies. The parade will begin at 9:30 AM and following the parade there will be carnival games and activities.
Heading into the evening there will be live entertainment located at the Liberty Oak. At 9:00 PM there will be a Firework display with Harbour Town and Calibogue Sound as the perfect backdrop.
Salute from the Shore
Each year 100's of thousands of people head to the beaches of South Carolina to witness the Salute from the Shore. Come out in your Red, White and Blue and watch a flyover of vintage military airplanes and F-16's. The aircraft will take off from South Carolina Air National Guard's 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Base. According to last years schedule the flyover will begin at 1:00 in Cherry Grove, SC (North of Myrtle Beach) and will end at the May River Sandbar in Bluffton, SC. Fourth of July Picnic
This free event is from 11:00 to 3:00 at 151 Gumtree Road there will be a picnic hosted by Central Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Grace Community Church. Parking will be located at the Hilton Head Island School Parking Lot. There will be picnic food, wet slides, dunk tank, live music and food and fellowship. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and tents.
The Hilton Head Island Firework 5k Run is in its 32nd year and it is held on July 4th at 8:00 AM at Shelter Cove Community Park. This is the largest and oldest road race in Beaufort County and a top 10 in the entire state. There are walkers and runners and this is a family event so come join the over 1,700 participants in this fun event.
There is an entry fee and you can pre-register or late registration and package pickup is from 6:30 to 7:30 AM the day of the event. The race will begin at 8:00 AM.

A firework display honoring Independence Day is scheduled for 9:30. You can also view the Fireworks from the Shelter Cove Town Park a short distance up the road where the Island Rec Center hosts Summer Jams.
Annual Skull Creek 4th of July Celebration
A Fireworks display will be hosted on Skull Creek for the 33rd annual July 4th celebration. The display will be set off from a barge in the Intracoastal Waterway and can be viewed from your boat or on shore at Skull Creek Boathouse, Hudson's, and the Dockside. There will be free parking at the Boys and Girls Club on Gum Tree Road with a shuttle running from 6-10 PM.

This event is located at the Shelter Cove Community Park. The weekly celebaration will feature live music in a family atmospere from 7:00 to 10:00.

Harbourfest at Shelter Cove

This event is located at Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina. The Harbourfest offers family entertainment twice a night featuring Shannon Tanner with performances at 6:30 and 8:00 Monday - Friday with fireworks on Tuesday nights. July 4th at 9:30 there are fireworks in honor of Independence Day.

Come enjoy a DJ providing music, kids games and concessions with a fireworks around 9:00. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this beautiful waterfront venue. Don't miss Wednesday July 4th for fireworks and the islands own Groove Town Assault starting at 7:00.

Carolina Dreamers Car Club Cruise-in
Every Thurday Night 5:00 - 8:00
Gas up your favorite hot rod, classic car or your favorite vehicle and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts and the sunset over Broad Creek. This is a free event, no reservations needed and there are awards and a 50/50 raffle. There are plenty of shops and dining nearby.
